My Long Frustrating Battle With Tinnitus

Played bass guitar with Bob Welch (of Fleetwood Mac) Peter Banks (of Yes) and John Kay & Steppenwolf. I used form-fitted hearing protection in rehearsals and on-stage because I had a sensitivity to loud sounds. So, I would put in my silicone ear plugs, crank it up, and blast away! I played venues from small clubs to stadiums, and my hearing held up pretty well. But, by 1983, one of the reasons I left the music business in 1983 and got into broadcasting was the deterioration of my tinnitus and hearing acuity. I'm now 62, and it hasn't gotten any better. So many musicians I have known refused to wear hearing protection. Especially now, with Musician's Ear Plugs, there's no excuse. Put them in, get used to them, and get on with your life!
